As this year slip away from us I believe that God has something good in store for every woman, man, and every family. No matter who you are, or what you are going through now; listen to what the Lord has to say to you because he is a God who cares for you. Today, I am looking into the life of Ruth. There is so much to learn from this young Moabite woman with a strong faith and hope in God. Ruth was a young widow who left Moab to Israel with Naomi, her mother in-law. She made a great decision to follow Naomi to be closer to the God she serves. The lord eventually favored her by giving her Boaz to marry. They gave birth to a son Obed, the grandfather of David and ancestor of CHRIST! Ruth was a woman of strong faith and hope. She did not feel sorry for herself despite the fact that she had lost her husband. In this day and age, a lot of people are finding him or she alone, rejected and depressed. It is God’s desire for us that we live a fulfilled life. (Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is none else). Isaiah 45:22. I want to let you know that whatever you are facing or going through, God cares for you and he will never leave you comfortless. Put your trust in God. Have faith in God. (Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen). Hebrews 11:1. Nobody knows what tomorrow holds except the one who made tomorrow. Ruth was not aware that through her, the lineage of Christ would come forth. May be God allowed what you are going through. May be God is setting you up for a miracle. Why don’t you say, where you lead me I will follow. (Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go: and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people and thy God my God). Ruth 1:16.Ruth chose to serve the God of Israel and the good lord never let her down. Rest assured that he that keepeth you neither sleep nor slumber. Let God be at the center of your life. Put your hope and trust in Him. (Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel and marrow to thy bones). Proverbs 3:5-8. He will see you through because his eyes are upon the faithful and the righteous. As you go through every moment, remember that God cares for YOU! For while we do not know where this journey will take us in this year, we know that we serve a GOD WHO CARES!
In my few years of been a Christian, I have observed large numbers of men and women who have carried charisma, an anointing, exceptional talents, talked of great vision and plans, and generally wanting to do something positive and effective for God. However, as time went on, they somehow disappeared from off the scene and are now no longer to be found serving the Lord in any kind of impacting way. One has to ask, “What went wrong? Why did they not fulfil their destinies? In short, the answer is they lacked the ability to keep on keeping on. Another word we could use here is endurance. They started well in their desire and call to serve the Lord, but were not able to continue to hold to their vision. To accomplish great things in the will of God today, it is important that we can endure to that which we commit to. Many do not go on to produce great fruit in the purposes of God because they are not able to hold on to their vision during the seasons of trials and testing. They are easily discouraged and give up too soon. Another factor is that, over time, they demonstrate they were trying to “work for God” rather than become “a worker together with God” (2 Corinthians 6:1) When it comes to endurance and keep on keeping on, there is a large difference between “working for” and “working with” God. To “work with” God means we need to know what He has called us for-we need to know His will for our life, and then we co-operate with Him to enable us to bring about that which He has destined for us. If we look at those who endured in the scriptures, we soon discover that they were all severely tested in order to produce the promised results. It is no different with us today. None of us were born again of the Holy Spirit of God to become “drop outs”. That is not His will or purpose for any one of us. We want to know His will, and then work together with Him to fulfil His will. That takes endurance. But endurance is something that runs right against the grain of modern living. We are conditioned to want everything “now” (sooner if possible)! However, that is not the way of the Lord Jesus. Since Sade and I decided to fulfil the will of God, by working with God at the establishment of Windows of Heaven Christian Church we have had to endure many things. We have lost friends who said we are self will. We have been laughed at, belittled, told more than one time that there is no future for us in the ministry, etc. We refused to listen to those critics. We will endure and keep on keeping on so we can reap the blessings of being use of God to minister to the world. The satisfaction of knowing you are fulfilling the call and will of God is a tremendous assurance that the Lord does want to bless and use us for His glory. But He doesn’t “hand it to us on a plate” so to speak. We have to grow in our walk with Him. We have to cultivate a listening ear to pick up His ongoing instructions that are necessary to obtain that which He has called us to. Many times throughout out life’s journey we will discover that there are obstacles, opposition and even personal discouragements that will seek to make us want to give up on the call. It is in those times that endurance has to “kick in”, otherwise we will give up and the enemy will gain a victory over us-and those we have been called to reach for Christ. Whoever you are, and wherever you are, are you enduring in the purposes of God for your life right now? Do you need to change anything that you are doing in the kingdom of God? Do you need to pick up again something that God called you to, but you let it go because of what others said, the journey was too hard, or you became personally discouraged? To accomplish the purposes of God effectively we must endure. Please depend on the Lord and pray that God will help you to see any area that you are lacking in endurance. Tell the Lord to help to keep on keeping on – to keep on enduring in this christian life. That the Lord will Strengthen your weak areas, so that you might be much stronger in accomplishing God’s plan for your life.
As we look into the story of the woman with “an issue of blood” an important real life story in the Bible. This story is found in Matthew 9:20-22; Mark 5:25-34; Luke 8:43-48.For twelve long years this woman had suffered from her plaque. The Bible further told us that during those twelve years, during which her life had been given over to the weary tragedy of an incurable disease, that all her money had gone in the fruitless search of a cure.Often when one’s money goes, so do his friends. She had “spent all her substance n the physicians, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse.” Her condition, then, was both painful and distressing. The nature of her malady, the length of its continuance, and the fruitless of her resort to physicians costing her all means for costly remedies made her case a hopeless one. Working her way through the surging crowd, she said in her heart. “If I may but touch His clothes, I shall be whole.”It is important to note that “marvelous faith” as I will call it helped to heal her. She did not doubt for a moment her right to take healing if she could get it. So her faith in Jesus to heal her was strong and well founded. Her faith was fearless, prompt, and resolute, that before Jesus could utter a word, she believed, resolved, and acted. For her there was not a more convenient season. She had come to the conclusion that although all other physicians had failed her, the Great Physician would not, and forming her resolution accordingly that touching Him would suffice for complete healing, she acted as she did. Marvelous faith! It is good to note that she was instantly made whole the moment she touched Jesus. A lot of us Christians are going through many trials, afflictions, difficulties or even sickness that nobody can help us. Many are asking why. JESUS IS THE ANSWER! Jesus said, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” All that we need is faith in God and His word. I mean Bible kind of faith that can move mountains. No matter what we are facing or experiencing at any moment of our life; Jesus is able to do all things. “If ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”We must make sure that we abide in Christ Jesus as genuine Christian, true child of God. Living in righteousness and holiness. Are you a woman or man with little faith? Pray that God will increase your faith in Him. Christian journey is not a bread and butter kind of journey; but Jesus had promised to see us through. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” For us to have victory on every area of your lives faith is very important. As Christians, we need to get to the height of strong faith in God because without faith it is impossible to please Him. My prayer for us as we sail in the heavenly boat is that we will get to the height of strong faith in God.
Jesus Christ is the reason for this season but much more than that, Jesus was born to save the world therefore, let us remember to give him a special place in our hearts today and keep him there permanently. The Bible says that through Adam death enter into our life’s but when we look up to Jesus the curse and damnation we completely be removed. As we near the time of Christmas, we see the decorations going up. the people madly shopping for gifts. the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season. Now is the time to stop and reflect just why we really celebrate this time. As Christians, we are the only ones who know the real meaning of Christmas and why it is a time of celebration and what that celebration means to all who will believe. If there were no Jesus, there would be no Christmas.
As you see the many slogans being pandered around you, take time every day to explain the real meaning of what is being said…. “Peace on earth, good will to men”… “Joy to the world”… “Hark, the herald Angels sing”… “’round yon virgin, mother and Child”. Think about what each of these things means to you as a born again believer, then share them with others – especially with others who don’t know Jesus or understand his incredible, eternal, unconditional love for us all. As you prepare your gift list, be sure to make the first gift for everyone on your list the free gift of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As you ponder on the One who is the Reason for the Season, make sure that you know who He is – that He is God (not “A” god or “one of the” gods). Just as He identified Himself to Moses in Exodus 3:14 as “I AM”, He identified Himself to the Jews in John 8:58 again as “I AM”. Why is it important to know who He is? Jesus said, “If you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins.” (John 8:24b NIV).
Over the next few weeks, remember WHO Jesus is, and remind everyone you see of the Reason for the Season.
Lord, Teach Us How To Pray.
And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
The subject of prayer cannot be over emphasized. Prayer is the lifeline of every one that calls Jesus his or her Lord. Jesus himself lived a life of prayer as we can see during his entire life when he lived in this world.
The gospels records many of the times that he prayed. In Luke chapter 11 one of his disciples watched him praying and immediately as he finished his prayer, that disciple “said unto him, Lord teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” In other parts of the gospels, Jesus Christ commanded that believers must pray instead of getting discouraged. He knows that life will bring all kind of problems and difficulties our way but as we pray and trust him, we will surely overcome. That is why I am encouraging everyone that read this today that you must pray. If you do not know how to pray. Why don’t you ask Jesus Christ today to Teach you how to pray.
The Bible is not a nutrition textbook. However, it gives us all the necessary guidance for righteous and healthy living. “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning…” (Romans 15:4; 2Timothy 3:16,17). The dietary laws God gave to the Israelites through Moses in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14 show that God is interested in the food we eat. One of the reasons why God gave them those laws at that time was to protect them from certain diseases.
As a person living in a world of increasing diseases, environmental pollution, you need to pay close attention to what you eat and how you eat because your health is directly determined by what you eat. We must prepare our bodies for vitality if we are to be effective in carrying out our domestic responsibilities as humans as well as our Lord’s Great Commission.
The Christian’s body is God’s temple by virtue of the fact that God the Holy Spirit indwells her (1 Corinthians 3:16). So to do anything injurious to this body constitutes a sin.
Just as we teach our toddlers not to eat any piece of trash found on the ground so we learn from the dietary laws God gave the Israelites that we have to eat right in order to live well and be protected from diseases. Someone said, “If we only know enough, all diseases could be prevented, and could be cured, through proper nutrition.”
(1) Little or No Meat
Research has shown that the digestion of animal protein (with the exception of cultured diary products such as buttermilk and yoghurt) depletes the body’s natural supply of pancreatic enzymes believed to be essential for destroying an invading malignancy. Hence, diet therapist often call for little or no meat.
(2) Whole Natural Food
Because processed foods are notoriously void of many essential nutrients and may also have cancer-causing additives, innovative doctors stress the importance of whole, natural foods in the diet.
(3) Raw Fruits and Vegetables
Most doctors using nutritional therapy, especially for cancer, recommend that 80 percent or more of the fruits and vegetable in the diet be raw. Reason: only in raw foods are the maximum amounts of enzymes, vitamins and minerals preserved. Due to their nutritional value and cleansing effect, raw vegetable juices play a major role in the degenerative disease therapy.
(4) High Fibre Content
Research has revealed a definite connection between colon cancer and other degenerative diseases, and the low fibre diet characteristic of highly processed foods. A high fibre diet results in frequent elimination and better cleansing of toxins from the colon. Whole natural foods such as whole grains, raw fruits and raw vegetables all have high fibre content.
Preservatives are chemicals added to processed food either to prevent quality deterioration or micro-organism growth. Either way, they result in extending the shelf life.
The concern over preservatives focuses mostly around three areas:
1) Food needs to be decomposed in digestion; do preservatives hamper digestion and assimilation of foods?
2) Since preservatives are inorganic chemicals, are our bodies being “embalmed” by them?
3) Many food additives have been found to cause cancer; do preservatives encourage cancer? Let’s examine some of them.
(A) SODIUM NITRITE
Most processed meats including hot dogs, hams, bacon and sausages contain sodium nitrite as preservative. The meat processing industry uses the ingredient as a colour fixer to make foods look more attractive and appealing. Yet sodium nitrite is a precursor to some potent cancer-causing chemicals that accelerate the formation and growth of cancer cells throughout the body. According to Mark Adams, author of the Grocery Warning Manual, “When consumers eat sodium nitrite in popular meat products, nitrosamines (cancer-causing chemicals) are formed in the body where they promote the growth of various cancers.”
(B) SODIUM BENZOATE
Also known as benzoic acid, sodium benzoate is often used as a natural preservative in liquid drinks (soft drinks, juices etc) and in processed foods such as jams, salad dressings and pickles. According to nutrition experts, by itself, there’s little or no evidence that sodium benzoate causes any problems in people. But when mixed with ascorbic acid (vitamin C), a chemical reaction occurs and benzene is formed. Unfortunately, benzene is a proven cancer-causing chemical. In an effort to make their drinks more nutritious, many soft drink manufacturers in recent years are adding vitamin C to their drinks and juices. Since most of these drinks already contain sodium benzoate, the mixture poses serious health risks.
Calcium propionate and sodium propionate are mold inhibitors in bread. Propionates have been shown to cause allergic reactions in the gastro-intestinal area and migraine headaches.
Flavourings form the largest category of food additives. They are often added to processed foods. Most of these are synthetic. They are not food and tests are revealing their dangers. Common salt (Sodium Chloride) the oldest flavouring should be taken sparingly because it is not food, it cannot be digested or assimilated. When taken in excess, it causes harm to the heart and robs the body of calcium.
Many other synthetic flavours and flavour-enhancers exist. They are used by food producers because consumers have demanded more and more flavours to tickle their taste buds. These on analysis are found to be detrimental to health. Colouring, dyes, and artificial sweeteners are to be avoided as much as possible.
